AI agent for holiday customer support on Shopify
An AI agent for holiday customer support answers the repeat questions your store gets in November and December, mainly “where is my order”, shipping cutoffs, gift questions and returns, from your own order data and policy pages, and passes everything else to a person. Ours is $500/month to set up and goes live in 48 hours after we have Shopify access and your holiday rules.

The demo reads public pages only, not orders. The paid setup adds order lookup after you connect Shopify.
What holiday support looks like for a store
The questions are not new. They arrive together. Shoppers ask where a parcel is, whether a gift will land in time, whether they can return something bought for someone else, and whether you wrap. Each one has a short, correct answer that already exists in your order system or your policies. The work is getting that answer in front of the shopper quickly and consistently, and keeping your team for the cases that need judgement.
You do not need a statistic to know this pattern. Look at last December in your own inbox and count how many messages were one of those four questions. That count is the work an agent can take, and the rest is what your team should keep.
Publish your shipping cutoffs first
A cutoff nobody can find becomes a support ticket. Publish dates on the product page, the cart and the policy page, then let the agent repeat them. As a model, here are the USPS recommended send-by dates for 2026, for delivery before 25 December within the contiguous US. Source: USPS holiday shipping dates and the USPS 2026 announcement.
| USPS service | Send by |
|---|---|
| Ground Advantage | Thursday 17 December |
| First-Class Mail | Thursday 17 December |
| Priority Mail | Friday 18 December |
| Priority Mail Express | Saturday 19 December |
| First-Class Package International and Priority Mail International (Europe, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and similar) | Wednesday 9 December |
| Priority Mail Express International | Wednesday 16 December |
USPS also expects 10 or more days for Ground Advantage to and from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the territories. These are USPS dates. If you ship with UPS, FedEx, DHL or a regional carrier, publish their dates instead, and add your own handling time on top. For gifts, USPS lists Hanukkah as 4 to 12 December 2026 and Kwanzaa as 26 December to 1 January, if your catalogue has gifts for those dates.
Holiday support prep checklist
- Cutoff dates. One date per shipping method and region, written as a day and date, plus the last day you will promise delivery before 25 December.
- Gift returns window. State whether a gift bought now can be returned in January, and from which date the window starts.
- Gift receipts and wrapping. Say whether you offer them, what they cost, and how a buyer asks for one.
- Order-status answers. Decide what you say for each state: not yet shipped, shipped with tracking, delayed, delivered but not received. Write the sentence you want used for each.
- Address changes. State until when an address can be changed and who does it.
- Handoff rules. List what always goes to a person: damaged goods, lost parcels, refund disputes, chargebacks, anyone who is upset. Name the inbox and the hours it is watched.
- One source of truth. Put all of the above on your policy pages. The agent should answer from those pages, so a policy that exists only in your head cannot be answered.
- Test before the rush. Ask the questions yourself, in the words a shopper would use, and fix the pages where the answer is wrong or missing.
How an order-status question gets answered
A shopper writes “where is my order” with an order number and the email on the order. Once your store is connected, the agent looks that order up in Shopify and replies with what the order data says: not yet shipped, shipped with the carrier and tracking details, or delivered. If the data is missing or does not match, it says it cannot confirm the status and passes the conversation to your inbox with the details attached, so your team does not have to ask the shopper again. It never fills a gap with a guess.
The same pattern covers a cutoff question. The shopper asks whether a gift will arrive by 24 December, and the agent answers with the dates you published for their shipping method and region, and points to your returns and gift pages for the rest. If you have not published a date, there is nothing to repeat, which is why the cutoff step in the checklist comes first.
What the agent answers
- Order status, from your Shopify orders, once your store is connected.
- The shipping cutoffs and holiday delivery windows you publish.
- Gift, wrapping and return questions, from your policy pages and product data.
What it hands to a human
- Anything unclear, angry or out of scope.
- Refund disputes, chargebacks and escalations.
- Questions your pages do not answer. It says so and passes the conversation on rather than guessing.
What it does not do
- It does not invent order statuses or policies.
- It is not a helpdesk. There is no ticket queue, macros or team inbox. It sits in front of the inbox you already use.
- It does not promise a drop in ticket volume. We have no number to offer and will not make one up.
- It does not replace your team on disputes or upset customers.
Price and go-live
Setup is $500/month one-time. Care is optional at $500/month for cutoff refreshes and handoff checks. After you pay, we email an access checklist. The 48-hour clock runs from when we have Shopify access and your holiday rules, so send the checklist items above early. If you want to see it first, paste a public store URL into the demo.
If you are weighing a helpdesk instead, see our comparisons: Gorgias alternative, Tidio Lyro alternative and Shopify Inbox alternative. Longer custom builds are on the Shopify AI agents service page.
Questions
What is WISMO in ecommerce support?
WISMO stands for "where is my order". It is the question shoppers send when they want a tracking or delivery update, and it is one of the easiest questions to answer from order data.
Can an AI agent answer order-tracking questions for a Shopify store?
Yes, once your store is connected, the agent answers order-status questions from your Shopify orders. It does not invent statuses. The public demo reads public pages only, not orders.
How fast can the agent be live before the holidays?
Setup is $500/month one-time and the agent goes live in 48 hours after we have Shopify access and your holiday rules. Optional care is $500/month.
Which shipping cutoff dates should I publish?
Publish the dates your own carriers give you. As an example, USPS recommends Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail go out by Thursday 17 December 2026 for delivery before 25 December in the contiguous US.
What does the agent hand to a human?
Anything unclear, angry or out of scope goes to a human inbox you choose. Refund disputes, chargebacks and escalations stay with your team.
